Junk Art Sculptureby 3-D EDDDY
3-D EDDDY
An artist for over 30 years, 3-D EDDDY�s Junk Art wood sculpture is spontaneous, energetic, and full of his eclectic and whimsical sense of humor. Using items recycled from everyday life�ceiling fans, surf boards, door knobs, old eye glasses, and children�s toys, along with lots of recycled wood and rusty bottle caps�EDDDY builds airplanes, totems, 'shovel-heads' for the garden, and all kinds of fantastic creatures from cast off items that would otherwise end up at the county dump. EDDDY�s interest in junk art sculpture in part evolved out of his friendship with Pavitra Crimmel, founder of Garbage Reincarnation, an innovative recycling program at the Sonoma County central landfill. Pavitra was also the creator of Oh Rapture, It�s Scrapture, a junk art contest and exhibition held annually in downtown Cotati. 3-D EDDDY also credits the many children he teaches in the community with much of the inspiration for his artwork. Active with Kid Street Theater and Chops teen center in downtown Santa Rosa, he recently collaborated with a group of young artists in the Chops Art Studio program to create an eight foot dinosaur which is now part of a year-long group exhibition titled Spectrum at the Paradise Ridge Winery Sculpture Grove in Santa Rosa.
