Bakers Dozen 2008

Quicksilver Presents the Work
of 13 Bay Area Artists

January 12 -February 17, 2008

The Quicksilver Mine Co. in Forestville will present Bakers Dozen 2008, the Gallery's annual group exhibition featuring the work of 13 northern California artists beginning January 11th. This Show opens with a reception for the artists on Saturday January 12th from 4—6pm, and will continue through February 17th.

This year's Bakers Dozen focuses on the art of drawing. The featured artists express whimsy, satire, surrealism, abstraction and realism using dry media, including pen and ink, graphite, pastel, and colored pencil.

Celestial drawings by abstract realist Paul Beattie (1924—1988); works of whimsy and satire by Chris Hataway, Frank Miller, and Will Smith; James Spitzer's acerbic pen and ink political commentary; figure studies by James Millikan; and Jennifer Sturgill's surreal colored pencil drawings will all be included in this Exhibition.

Bakers Dozen 2008 will also offer a rare opportunity to view graphite and pen and ink drawings by Sonoma County painters D A Bishop and Mary Robertson, Berkeley sculptor and mixed media artist/illustrator Pamela Blotner, and Guerneville printmaker Gail Packer; as well as David Newell's abstracted fields of pattern and texture; and large detailed pen-and-ink land and cityscapes by retired Sonoma State University art instructor Shane Weare.

A reception for the artists of Bakers Dozen 2008 will be held on Saturday, January 12th from 4—6pm.
